Time for an upgrade?

A lot of people on this forum know more than you, if I were you, I'd listen to them.
You ask for advice, and when people give it to you, you BS them. Does something seem wrong here? When I ask for help, I listen to the people who respond as they usually know more than me on the subject, I think you should do the same.

Higher clock speeds =/= higher performance. Sorry, that sign is supposed to mean "does not equal", but it didn't come out very well.
Clock speeds have virtually no meaning when it comes to GPU performance. There is much more to it, stream processors, texturing units, memory interface, ROPs etc...

Since you've told us you play at 1680x1050, the HD 4850 is the obvious choice. It has the best performance in it's price segment, it's within your budget and it's overclockable. What's the problem?

I didn't do anything, all I said is that he/she could get their clock higher.

EDIT: THe HD 4850 looks good. But -I am not joking- I would get beat up for having an ATI card. And how much FPS would it get in Assassin's Creed If overclocked by like 5 Mhz?

i only get about 5 FPS Max when i OC my 8800GT by 100mhz.
and i think that even though i OC my 8800GT, the 4850 can still beat it without being OC'ed

I'm afraid of getting beat up. But I will see if I can find it for < 140$ cuz it looks great

why would you be beat up?
just get an aftermarket HSF or a case thats not transparent, and dont let anyone see your specs, and no one will know.

I've asked my REAL friends and they said they would beat the **** out of somebody with an ATi card.

thats what my friend said if i went with Intel (AMD Fanboy).
He knows i have an Intel, and he accepts the fact.
If they are your real friends, then i dont think they will beat you.

If you are getting one for Christmas, then wait till Christmas to research on the cards. A whole month and a half can make drastic performance and price change. Though most of the time, the chances are pretty slim.
