need processor help asap please

so im confused about something and im hoping someone here can help me.

im wanting to upgrade processors but i have questions first.

i am wanting to upgrade:
board: acer s82ma
processor 1.7ghz socket 478

im wanting to get something that is obviously a little faster can anyone make suggestions?

can i put in any socket 478 cpu?

does it have to be a p4 or can it be, example celeron or celeron d etc

thats all i can think of for now, if you need more information please ask me so we can get me goin faster

ive upgraded to a measly 1gig ram and a nvidia 6200 128mb video card other then that its all the same as it was new, runs vista ultimate with aero really well but always near like 75% cpu usage and im sure thats not good

Unfortunately, skt 478 is a bit of a dead end in terms of upgrades. There isn't a CPU that will give you a particularly noticeable boost in performance over what you have now.

The P4 would be the best, but it's not worth it. Just save up for a motherboard/CPU/RAM.
