I set my monitor to sleep after 5min. I just have to move the mouse to get out of it anyways. Some people find it annoying but I say it saves me energy and it makes me more lazy because now I don't have to move my finger all the way to the power button on the monitor

CRTs are practically archaic now in terms of power efficiency, if you intend to leave a monitor on at all times during the day, you would be wise to get an LCD.
