my computer isnt picking up my speakers

i just had to do a destructive recovery on my computer cuz it crashed really bad and went into a loop of crashing....well i have almost everything back up and running but for some odd reason my computer isnt picking up that my speakers are plugged in. they are just the normal speakers that came with the computer but they wont work. i have a new motherboard in my computer but i downloaded all the drivers i am pretty sure and it just says that i dont have any speakers plugged in
can anyone help?

post as you like i need to go to school so i will be back in like 8 hrs

What do you mean it says there are no speakers plugged in?

Also what motherboard do you have and what OS?

it does say no media devices and the things for the speakers are like shaded out.

i have xp home
and a ecs geforce6100sm-m2 motherboard

Then your onboard sound device isnt installed propely,can you please try installing THIS for me.Just download that first one.

its not working i click download but it sends me to a screen with no download links or a automatic download
