There are many things to do.
What do you have so far?
Apache? PHP? Will you be hosting the forum or will you be paying for a host?

Ok so you are going to host the forum on one of your own boxes. Then next thing is to set up a webserver, you have a couple of options here, you can use Apache or IIS, I would recommend Apache. After that you need to install PHP. You might also want to install MySQL too.

Are you going to be using a windows computer or a linux computer for the server?
