yes, we all have regular trash days. These are for the stuff you have hiding in your garage, closets or backyard that you really don't have a use for such as old bikes, furniture, car parts, TVs, etc.

We do,but we only put out our bins once a week.

When i mean junk i mean like old appliances and larger objects that wouldnt fit into our bins.

Well,Last time my friend picked up my ghetto puter (in my sig),which i recently bought off him

I have picked up DVD players,tv's,computers and other random objects which i have sold off of ebay,if you know what to look for and have a good knowledge of prices,you can make a small profit

whilst there isn't dedicated days for this,
when I lived in Bristol people used to leave things on their front wall with a notice saying "please take me" written on it. so passers buy could look at semi useful stuff an recycle it.

there is also the website freecycle where you can do this trading via email.
