You've heard what I said about the GPU and PSU...

I'm unsure about the motherboard. By the time you do upgrade, it may be better to spend the $$$ on a new video card, rather than another 9800GTX, in which case the P45 would make more sense over the 750i. But the 4850 is truly a better choice than the 9800GTX- both in terms of price and performance.

You don't need a HD 4850 for 1440x960, just get a 9800GT, Gigabyte P45 and OCZ 500W.

A 4850 may not be absolutely necessary, but it certainly isn't overkill. If he can afford it with the PSU, I say go for it.

If you can only afford either the 4850 or the PSU, the PSU is the right way to go.

Worshipme, are there any other good 500W PSUs that are cheaper, perhaps non-modular? Then he can get both a decent PSU, and a 4850 :)

I just found this, look at the combo deal with the HD 4850! < - < - Go with this for sure.
what is so bad about 580 watts of power?
It has cheap components, it may not deliver stable within tolerance voltages. It will almost definitely not deliver it's rated power.

thanks how about this beast?

looks amazing lol

or stick with 550 watt and what happens if i have too much power?

Too much power isn't a problem. It's just that it's unnecessary, and you end up going with cheap PSUs because of your small budget.

...It would be beyond me as to why you would ever get that other 635W PSU....look at the combo deal...$190 for a 4850 and a PSU? That's nearly the same price you would've paid for a 9800GTX alone. It's a good deal, and you should go for it.
