laptop won't use N wireless

My hp laptop doesn't seem to want to connect to my router when it is in 802.11n mode. right now it is in 802.11g which is only running at 56mb/s and my desktop runs at 300Mb/s in N mode. For some reason my laptop doesn't want to use N even though the wireless adapter is compatible with wireless n

Wrong section, mate... But try reinstalling your drivers on your NIC and see what happens.

go into device manager. go to the wireless card. there should be a properties section or something. make sure wireless n is enabled

Try getting new drivers for it as well.
