Which video card would be better?

what about 4 HD4870X2 in XFire with all at X16 speed!
i wonder if theres a board where all 4 slots operates at X16 speed and not the X8 speed.

I've only heard of a maximum of 3 vga cards in sli.
Does xfire even support 3 cards??...

hmmm, i thought i read somewhere that you could use 4 cards in crossfire.
i think it came out when the 3xxx series came out.
i think its called Crossfire X.
i could be wrong though...

CrossfireX (HD 3800 series onwards) supports upto four GPUs. Up to four GPUs, HD 4870 X2 already has two GPUs, so it only works with two cards. You can run four-way HD 4850 CF though.

As for HD 4870 X2 vs GTX 280 SLi, it isn't in the same price range is it? But I would say the HD 4870 X2 mostly because you wouldn't need an Nvidia motherboard, and because a single X2 is actually faster than two 280's in more than a few games.
