help with dvd drive

i have a prob. i have an older board that doesnt have sata ports. can i use a card with sata ports on it and connect the dvd drive like that. i no u can do this with hdds but i dont now if u can do it with a dvd drive.

No not at all. BUT, BUT, make sure the pci interface will take an optical drive. Check the specs. Some cards won't take an optical drive.
