I dunno...
for me price mathers a lot..
And.. looking from this side, I have to make a notice.
Motherboard for AMD are realy cheap nowdays, so when judgeing I allway take the price and performance of (CPU+MOBO) for comparism.
Like.. MSI K9A2 around 160 us$ now,
and.. a decent cpu for it is 180 us$ (black edition, 125Watts, 9950)
so this combo is.. ~340 us$..
this is close to a q6600 intel cpu,
thats 180 us$ atm too.
Asus P5E3 is over 300 us$.
Thats 480 us$.
According to
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/735/2/
the 2 systems are simular in performance.
Besides that.. The amd still uses ddr2 memory, I have 8Gbyte of that,
at least I don't need to throw it away..
I can upgrade the mobo, and a bit later the cpu, since am2+ accepts my exsisting dual core amd am2 cpu..
Just becouse of this, my vote was amd.
I'm sure everyone has his own reasons, mine is the good price.
(I don't need new memory, I can upgrade in 2 stepps, and its cheaper..)
that 140 us$ is indeed enough for me..
a verry good 8600gt is now ~100 us$,
if I add the ~140 us$ I did not need to spend on mobo+cpu,
I can buy an evga 9800 gtx+.
I think an amd 9950 + evga 9800 gtx+ (clock 792 mhz, memory 2300 mhz)
will preform better than
q6600 + evga 8600gt (clock 540 mhz, memory 1400 mhz)
so if I look for an upgrade, and don't want to spend too much, (wich I do, and realy planning this upgrade.. 500-600 us$ what I plan to spend)
I get off better with AMD.
If money was not a limiter I would aim for an intel, but.. I'm not a milionare.
