I currently have an XFX nVidia nForce 680i TF SLI motherboard and an 8800GTS G92. I am buying a new screen either 24 inch (1920x1200) or 22 inch (1680x1050). I am concerned about how my 8800 will perform on these larger screens. As this is a gaming computer I want my PC to play games on the very highest settings and I don't think my 8800 will be able too. So the question is, will an ATI Radeon work on an nForce motherboard - I'm guessing that it should, just wont be able to do Crossfire. Also which should I go for - Radeon HD 4870 512MB or XFX GeForce GTX 260 896MB? I think the 4870 is slightly faster, but on bigger screens I'd rather have the extra memory.

Yes, and ATi card will work on an Nvidia motherboard.

The HD 4870 is slightly faster than the GTX 260, but if you go with the GeForce, you have the SLi upgrade path later on.

And the HD 4870 with it's 512MB of VRAM actually does better at higher resolutions with full filters than the GTX 260 which has 896MB.

Thanks for the reply, is the radeon that much better? It would be good to keep SLI capability and as they are around the same sort of price this a hard decision.

EDIT: Also would this be a good upgrade for a 22 inch screen?
also why is one of these more expensive than the other? They look like the same card!

EDIT AGAIN: I have found a 1GB 4870 cheaper than the 260 so I'm getting that!
