Computer not turning on

I'm on my laptop right now. But our main computer will not power up. Push the power button and nothing happens. Everything is plugged up. The monitor turns off and on. There's a little green light in the back of the PC that stays on. Then goes out like 30 secs after you unplug it. Plug it back up and it comes back on. So it's still getting power somewhere. Power switch bad?? Anyone have any ideas??

I had an old dell where the PSU fried, yet LED lights would flash yellow. Do you hear any fans spinning?

most probably a psu problem.

No fans running. What is a psu? Sorry i don't know much about these.

Power supply unit. Wait! By no fans running do you mean you don't have any or they aren't spinning?

if they aren't spinning then most definitely its something to do with the PSU (power supply), time to get a new one if thats the case.

and if you have no fans like "Joga" asked...then i dunno what the problem would be. but i would recommend replacing the Powersupply anyhow....could possibly be the root of your problem. in most cases...power related problems are boil down to the power supply (PSU).

It's the PSU. Can you give me your system specs? Then I can recommend you a proper PSU.

edit: Do you know if you have a video card? If you're not running one, a 350W would fit your needs perfectly. So you have 2 choices:

$20 Antec Basiq 350W

or

$30 (after MIR) Thermaltake 430W

If you don't mind paying a straight up $40 w/o rebates:

$40 Antec Basiq 500W
