I've priced it all at around $350 (and, by the time I get enough extra money after bills / savings, it may even go down a bit. )

My current PSU is:

Model: ATX-250-12Z
Input: 100-127V 6A, 200-240V 3A 50 / 60 Hz
Output: 12v / 14A
5v / 25 A
3.3v / 18 A

Yeah, you'll need a better PSU. 14A on a single 12V rail is not enough. For $200 you can get an HD4850 which I think is faster than that 8800GT. Correct me if I'm wrong. However the only problem I think might cause you is to upgrade the PSU because the HD4850 might need PCI-E connectors. But then again, you can get a HD4850 for $170 and spend the rest on a better PSU.

yeah, the 4850 is faster than the 8800GT.
both the 8800GT and the 4850 needs a 6-pin PCI-E connector.
so you will need to get a new PSU no matter what if you plan to get a graphics card

Does the brand of the Graphics Card matter?

It's seemed to me as if they're just kind of exchangable.

to me, any brand is pretty much the same.
If they sell, then they will work and its good.
for nvidia, most people go with eVGA, ASUS, and XFX
and with ATI, people go with Hightech, Sapphire, and Poworcolor.
but some people will just go with the cheaper one because it saves them money, but the warranty probably wont be as good.

Visiontek have a lifetime warranty, Palit are very reliable too and have some brilliant non-reference designs.

quick question about lifetime warranty.
Does the lifetime warranty mean in your lifetime? or the products lifetime?
from what i have heard, it is the products lifetime, so if the product has a life expectancy of 5 years, then the warranty is actually just 5 years.

is that true?
