CD drive wont right

ok for some reason my cd-dvd writer on my laptop wont work anymore when it comes to reading and writing... how can i tell if my drivers are working correctly or if im missing some

call the manufacturer. or check their site for updated drivers.

IS this vista or XP?

I have seen DVD drives totally disappear in VIsta and it takes a regestry tweak to get them back. Search for "missing DVD drive vista upper filter" and you should get on the right track.

yeah vista has many known problems, drivers is one big issue.
