WD My Book Home Edition 500GB installation

I just bought a WD My Book Home Edition 500GB for my 2005 Dell Inspirion E1705 notebook that has XP SP3, and it does not come with an installation CD, it is supposed to install when you plug it in and XP is supposed to support it. It shows up in device manager as "other devices" with a yellow question mark, but does not show up at all in disc management, therefore I can't assign a drive letter. It also does not show up in My Computer. There are no drivers for this. I tried plugging directly into the wall, that didn't help.

I understand that there are issues, but that thread does not answer my question. Mine is brand new.

just because something is brand new doesn't mean it works.

Try going to WD's site to get new drivers: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?lang=en

I did try all of the available software from WD. This drive does not have any drivers available.
