I want to install a 320gig Seagate Momentus on my Dell Inspiron 1520 running Windows XP.

I booted my new HDD with my XP cd. The cd loads all the drivers etc. and then it gets to the stage that reads "loading windows" and all of a sudden I get the BSOD reading "A problem has been detected. Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer etc."

I'm now using my 'old' HDD and don't know what to do. Both HDDs are SATA. The new one is 7200 while the old one is 5400rpm.

What's wrong and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

What do you mean by it saying loading windows? After the installation is done? Or while the XP cd is in?
This is a desktop right?
If so. Try putting both HDD in. Then put the XP cd in, see if it loads. If it does, it should ask you about partitioning the drives. Select the new drive. Install XP on it. Then after everything is done. Go back and format the old drive.
