Active Subwoofers vs Passive Subwoofers

all those who recognised that the only difference is tha amp or at least location of the amp give yourself a pat on the back.

the only thing that's different is that an active sub has an amp built into it, a passive does not.

it's just depending on amp locations, and thus where the power goes to.

personally I'll say passive.

then I only have to worry about one location for routing power to. and my box can be wherever my speaker cable can reach.

whether an amp is built into the box or not isn't really important, enclosure design is.

that said, it's important to realise that a sub thatwas designed in a box that was empty that then has an amp built into it is going to be poorer quality as you've used some of the air space.

so depending on the design an active amp could be of lower quality.
