can a modem affect ping?

is it possible that my modem might actually effect my ping? i remember before i used to get around 10-20 pings with my motorola but i changed it out for a older one that was lying around and i dont know if thats when the ping went up but i know it is up to 39-42 =(

There are MANY factors that can effect your ping.

That very possibly could've been it, but as drum said, there are a ton of things that could have affected it.

yeah if it doesnt work then im going to whipe my hd
edit* lol i did it and it dident make any difference at all... so gay... i bet i have viruses haha
