Idk if there is a suitable category for this on the site, but I'll just put it here. My old cell phone (Verizon) is slowing on its way out. Is it possible to buy a nicer one from say eBay or Craigslist and then have Verizon just transfer my number and all my contacts, messages and such over to this phone?

You see Verizon only allows select phones to work with their network. It's not like Cingular or other networks where it's open (yet).
So you'd have to buy one of their select phones off eBay. But it would be at full price. When you buy a phone from Verizon with a plan, they knock off a huge amount from the price, usually at least $100.
So basically, if you're going with Verizon, you should just buy a phone from them.
