just do a reinstall and don't format, choose "keep current file structure intact" or something like that, it'll keep all her files and just move the previous install to a windows.old folder, that way she can get all her old files...

If she has the Product key, you can use your install disks. I think the key should be on the bottom of the laptop. Thats how mine is anyway.

windows 32 is corrupt how could restore it?

Put the XP Cd in, and when the first screen loads, it'll say something about recovery console, try that?
I think a reformat would be easier

if i can tho i have to save her photos and music
so bascily windows is currupt how can i restore it for is there a way to reformat but save all non installed files

if the os that was on it before was xp then pop in the xp disc and do a repair installation. everything will be reinstalled apart from the documents and programs.

Yeah,Do A Repair install OR Use a live linux CD and backup everything onto a flash drive or something,and then format and then reinstall.
