New advertising technique

ironically enough there is an advert by my name right now offering unlimited hosting with unlimited bandwidth for only £6.95 per month...

A lot of the files are Cached though... And where are you getting 600KB from? For me, this page is 150KB, EXCLUDING the images.. Are there really 450KB of images? And if there are that many images, then wouldnt they be cached anyway..?

that was the size of the previous page in this thread, minus the advertising banners.

you're right pictures do get cached,

I'm sure that there are more than 20 active members as well...

the point is that there is a lot of traffic going in and out of the server.

the page is ~200K
pictures amount to ~100K
the javascript and CSS files take a further ~200K

the page is obviously not cached, javascripts and css wouldn't be cached either

I don't mind it, its the post that counts not the looks.
Yes looks can divide others away but it will bring alot of commission in

i don't mind the ads under our post count. as long as we can get rid of the porn link at the bottom of the website, it's worth it. it's pretty bad to have to have a porn link on a computer forum website. it takes away from the legitimacy of the forum as a computer/technology related community. i can't refer any family/friends, expecially younger kids to use this site as a reference tool/community/computer forum because of that one link at the bottom. if anyone wants to look at porn, i think we all can find it on the internet,,,,we don't need a link to it at the bottom of a computer/technology related forum. yeah,yeah, i know all about paying the hosting bills and all. there are plenty of technology related ads to use in place of porn.
just my 2 cents worth....summary: i don't mind the new ads.
