Can someone help me put together a good desktop for school.
Itll be used for school only. internet, programming, and word processing. Id like it to be as cheap as possible. I need everything. Including monitor, mouse/keyboard.

Dont really have one. It doesnt have to be the most amazing thing ever, Just be able to do basic tasks

Austinn there are some shops that take older gen computers in on upgrade trade ins. These normally can be had for peanuts just to get them out the door. Shops have to pay taxes on inventory and they are considered inventory.
Anyway that would be a more cost effective way to get a working system you could do a little upgrading to. More ram, better vid card. You'd come out cheaper in the long run.

Try this custom built, I chose the parts myself =] (and its a simple one)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 / 2.66ghz / 1333FSB / 6mb Cache
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L (4x DDR2, 4x SATA, 1x IDE, Gigabit Lan)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Green Power 500GB 7200RPM 16mb SATA3gbs
Memory/RAM: Corsair DDR2 2gb PC-6400/800
Monitor: Asus 22" VW223B Widescreen Black LCD
Case: Thermaltake M9 Midi Tower
Graphics Card: Asus 8400GS 512mb DDR2 PCIE2.0 DVI VGA HDTV HDCP
Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech Cordless 1500 Rechargeable Desktop OEM

All together the price should be around $850

That build is a bit much for the tasks it would be used for and not cheap (IMO). Also, I'm assuming an OS will be needed as well. I think the CPU can be downgraded a bit, smaller hdd, PS/2 keyboard and mouse, the monitor is pretty huge as well I think, maybe a 19'' would do.
