When I hold in the power down button on my case it restart the computer instead of shutting down i don't think it's software related does anybody know how to fix this

In Vista, go to control panel, power options, chose what the power button does. Then you will see "When I press the power button" Then a drop down box.. Chose the option you want.

Don't remember how to do this in XP, but I think its similar.

its set to shut down when button pushed

could be a registry setting. Try seeing also in the bois if you can change it.

If it's when you HOLD it down, it's in the Bios. Have a tinker, and see if there is anything realted...
