I have an external HD partitioned as Backup(F:) Local Disk(I:) Local Disc (J:)

I want to change the NAME of the F: drive to Local Disc (F:). I do not want to change the drive letter...it will remain F:

Can I just rename the drive "Local Disc" (without the quotes)?

Thanks
Joe

yeah, i dont see why not.
i changed my external to be called "Batman's HDD"

Yup, just go into My Computer, right click the drive and select Properties. In the top box under the General tab, you can enter the name of your choice. Click Apply, OK and you're done.

i just right click and click rename, or just double click on the name to change the name.

while on this subject, how do you change the drive from F: to C: because my harddrive is read as a F drive and always says if i want to safely remove it at the bottom right...

If it's the drive that windows is on, I have yet to find a way without reformatting as every thing that looks to windows for things will need to be changed to look at C:\windows not F:\windows.
