To expand on the title:

My motherboard fried. It's a Micro BTX. So I've decided to buy a new case, RAM, CPU, HSF, and motherboard. My budget? $200. I want to try AMD because it seems that I can get higher clocks for lower prices when compared to intel, however, I'm no AMD expert. Here's what I have so far:

Case (With free-shipping promo code): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119115

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131172

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103211

HSF: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200023

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

$225 Before shipping, the RAM and CPU are a combo.

What do you guys think?

I completely missed his budget requirements.

Nevermind.

you can lose the HSF if you are not planning on OC'ing to make it fit into more of your budget.
I am about to get an HSF, after 6 months with the 4800+, i kinda want more power, so thats when a aftermarket HSF comes in place.

Yeah I wasn't too sure on how reliant the stock heatsink is, but I guess I'll use it. I'm not going to OC it at all. Maybe later for practice =p

edit:

New CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103289

New MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135075

RAM & Case will be the same, I will be using stock HSF for the beginning, I'll upgrade it later. Thoughts? Is that motherboard trustworthy?

edit2: Will an onboard 8200 SLI with my 8600GT? I've heard something, it was brief, about this hybrid SLI. If possible, what will be my performance boots when compared to another card?

edit3: For the SLI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135085

edit4 (lol): If I do make the switch for that MOBO I would revert back to the 5000+ and RAM combo.

That board should be good. The AMD 780 chipset in a nice choice. ECS makes a decent motherboard.

I don't think you can run Hybrid SLI with your 8600GT, it's limited to the 9800GT and up. Here's some more info for ya: Nvidia Hybrid SLI .

nice choice on the processor. i kind of want to get that since i will be getting a new HSF, and OC it past the 6000+ stock speed.

That's a pretty nice board, my friend had one, but he said the OC feature wasn't as good as his old DFI board. Then he end up frying by OC'ing it too much. But he returned it back to micro center and told them that it wouldn't post. One thing i would suggest you do is put a fan on the chipset, after normal use, me and him touched it, and pretty much burned our fingers, couldn't touch it for more than 2 seconds

I would go with the 5400+ and the AMD chipset board. It will perform better, and seeing how you cant hybrid sli
The mainboard chipsets nForce 720a, 730a, 750a SLI and 780a SLI and the mainboard GPUs GeForce 8100, 8200 and 8300 support Hybrid SLI
The GPUs GeForce 8400 GS and 8500 GT support GeForce Boost, the GPUs GeForce 9800 GT, 9800 GTX, 9800 GTX+, GTX 260, 9800 GX2 and GTX 280 support HybridPower.

and the 8400 and the 8500 isnt worth it, and seeing how you are on a budget, it might be hard to get one of those 98xx or the 2xx cards to do hybrid, by the time you could buy a new graphics card, there might be new series out, since from what i have seen so far, 2 series out graphics card comes out in a year (my friend had the 3850 for about 6 months (got it around launch) before the 4850 came out). Unless you get lucky sometimes like me where somehow you got around $100 for no reason at all.
I could never get a current series of graphics card, i got the x700 when the HD 2xxx series came out, got the X1950 when the 3xxx came out, and now i got the 8800GT when the 2xx series came out.... *sigh* i need to get a job... or if my parents let my keep my $900 from financial aid.

If it runs too hot, is there a better mobo choice for that price range? That's all that's holding me back. I'm going to stretch a little for the 5400+ (which I'll eventually OC)

On that case I'm going to switch out the fans with some new ones I have, and hopefully it will allow me to mount a 92mm somewhere in there lol. But yeah, for the beginning it won't even be stressed at all. Counter Strike CZ at most lol.
