Background Noise

Ok so I'm runnin vista 32 bit and whenever i move my mouse around i get some static background noise on my headphones. I only get it when I use the 5.1 input for my headphones, when i use simply the headphone jack there is no static. I'm just usin the onboard on my asus m2n deluxe if that matters.

That'll be why I'm afraid. Onboard sound quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Since the chips so close to the internals of the motherboard, it'll pick up a wide range of frequencies from other parts.

Is there a cheap one that would work just fine?

Check out any of the Sound Blasters to be honest. They'd all do a good job.
Live, Audigy, etc.
