Refusal to boot followed by dead Ps/2 port

Hi,
You may remember me from an earlier post in which my new computer was broken. Well have called PC world about that and they are coming to replace the PSU.
Have been on my old Pc, which yesterday refused to boot. when I turned it on, instead of the fan revving for a second and then dying, it just kept revving and the monitor went into standby mode.

I opened the cover up today and twiddled a few wires, and amazingly it booted as normal. However, the PS/2 port for the mouse seems to have died and I am now stuck using Mousekeys [ugh]. Anyone know what I can do?

New mobo is coming tomorrow, and my only USB mouse is faulty. Just wondering if there could be a simple diagnosis =/

On second throughts, will the new mobo come with a new set of ports?
