IDK.... theres different ones.
So i guess $100 since they are usually around that range for a good one that will last awhile

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W - $84.99

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Kentsfield - $274.99

Not sure which mobo tho.... and the ones i found are open box....

or
MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI - $85.99

Cant find the ram with the right speed or size so i picked another OCZ. the only one that has the right size and speed are the 2 x 1gb.

TOTAL.....
$1033.92!!!! without shipping (with the first mobo)

or $1013.92 without shipping (with second mobo)

but be sure that these are pretty much an estimate since your friend might be thinking about another type of product, and depending on where he is going to get them, and the cost of the case, and shipping/tax.
So the total afterward will either be more or less.

I still think the Q6700 is overpriced. I would go with:

E8400

P45
You'll get a much more stable and better featured motherboard with a P45 than with an Nvidia chipset.

HD 4850
As fast as, or faster than the 9800GTX for cheaper.
