okay guys
i finally got to getting into my BIOS
and i wrote some things down
if i need to look for anything in particular
let me know

under the Drive Configuration
Primary Master Drive HDD
Primary Slave Drive Off
Secondary Master Drive off
Secondary Slave Drive off
IDE Drive on

under the Hard-Disk Drive
1 System BIOS boot devices
2 USB Devices (Not Installed)

is there anywhere else that i should look?
what should i do next?
thanks for all of your help

Just go to boot order/sequence. The disk drive will be listed if it has been detected.

okay i went into the boot sequence
it was unchecked and it says this beside it (Not Installed)
so i checked it
now im going to check and see if it works
wish me luck

nope still cant play AOE II :(
what can i do next to install the CD-ROM?

can anyone help me?
this pos is going to be turned into an Ubuntu machine after i get my new machine up and running

You can't play AOE?? We have to fix this then :D

Quick recap, it's set as master, on the cable and jumper. It's detected at POST, but "not installed"

The only thing that I can think of is to try to get Windows to recognize it through "add hardware" in the control panel. Does the drive appear in My Computer? If yes, when you insert a disc, is this shown in My Computer? (This will tell us if the drive is actually reading the disc.

If none of these things work, then I think that your drive has most likely played AOE for the last time.

should be
secondary master drive on
go back into the bios and enable the secondary master drive
also check that the cables are both tight in the back of the cd rom drive , both the power and the ide one
