You can't play AOE?? We have to fix this then
Quick recap, it's set as master, on the cable and jumper. It's detected at POST, but "not installed"
The only thing that I can think of is to try to get Windows to recognize it through "add hardware" in the control panel. Does the drive appear in My Computer? If yes, when you insert a disc, is this shown in My Computer? (This will tell us if the drive is actually reading the disc.
If none of these things work, then I think that your drive has most likely played AOE for the last time.

i finally got to getting into my BIOS
and i wrote some things down

Primary Master Drive HDD
Primary Slave Drive Off
Secondary Master Drive off
Secondary Slave Drive off
IDE Drive on
under the Hard-Disk Drive
1 System BIOS boot devices
2 USB Devices (Not Installed)
is there anywhere else that i should look?

should be
secondary master drive on
go back into the bios and enable the secondary master drive
also check that the cables are both tight in the back of the cd rom drive , both the power and the ide one
