Does that mean they'd destroy the hard drive, without proof of you doing anything wrong or not?

I was considering going back to the US next summer (I spent well over $2000 there this year) but if I have to go through any more bull---- at the border, I'll definitely take my $$$ elsewhere. I loved it there but...ugh.

Flying is such a pain these days... from the guilty until proven innocent to the skyrocketing prices. My experiences with US Customs haven't been that bad - aside from a few stupid questions, everything went smoothly but the thought of having to stand there while some idiot looks through my computer for things that aren't there...then decides he/she is going to seize whatever just because they feel like it, without an ounce of evidence that anything's wrong and hold it for a "reasonable period of time".

I'm sure the CBSA will follow. I'm surprised they weren't first to implement it.

a holiday is a holiday i don't wanna be emailing/txting on holiday i'll leave all that at home and on the odd time that i might want to e-mail i'll use a cyber cafe etc

You can avoid all that crap. I used to UPS my stuff to the hotel I was going to be at and it would be waiting for me when I got there. No fuss, no muss.

That's a smart idea... Cost a decent sum though, especially if you were sending something out that needed to be insured like a laptop....

It's not so much that they're looking through it, it's that they'll be taking it away and returning later. Wtf...This is the most shittiest idea out there. The same way you can encrypt information so can terrorists. The same way you can ship stuff so can terrorists. So this is really a failed idea.
