okay im going to use 4 HDDs in my pc project (what i have is in my sig)
and they are all going to be the same size
now i want instant data protection
and ive been looking at RAID
but
im concerned about the set-up of it
lets say that each HDD is....... 500 GB
and i take the first 2 and make it my main disk space
now i want the other 2 to be the backup
is it possible to set the other 2 as a back up HDD in RAID 1? (i think that would be the mirror array..... right?)
thanks for any help guys

yeah you can run those in RAID 0+1 if you want. check out the wiki on RAID it will help you understand a lot without me having to plagiarize it =]

I'd say either RAID 0+1 or drop a drive and do a RAID 5 if the controller supports it.

because a straight RAID 1 is mirror only, 0+1 is striped and mirrored and RAID 5 is striped and mirrored with a parity disk.

oh snap!
i just missed my flight
man all of that just flew over my head
i guess i will have to read alot on Wikipedia
if i have any more questions, or comments i will post them
