pc crashing on start up

hi and hope somebody can help

the computer started up and started its checks, goto the xp logo and then the screen just went blank and nothing
if you press the restart button nothing on the mointor at all

i gave it a break for an hour and then started the pc and it went to the start in safe mode ,safe mode plus prompt etc and it wouldnt start in any and after a few restarts the mointor just went blank
i changed the mother board battery and this was the closest to starting when it froze just before the desk top
i pressed the restart, nothing on the mointor at all

Did you install any new devices?

Did your computer automatically go into Safe Mode, or did you boot it into Safe Mode? Have you recently installed anything new? Have you checked the monitor cable to make sure that it's securely connected? Sounds more like you're having an issue with your machine, as opposed to your monitor.
