I just updated mine today.Did not remove the current one first.

Your posts in this thread are completely irrelevant. He's talking about an Nvidia 8800GT, not an ATI product.

It's always best to remove the older drivers before updating to avoid any problems. Even ATI recommends removing the old software first.

Yes AVI recommends removeing Software.
This is about "Drivers" only upgradeing.

Well then, from my experience, it's my opinion that you have learned wrong. Whoever told you to not uninstall the previous drivers misinformed you. All manufacturers strongly suggest first removing all previously installed drivers before installing new drivers to avoid any problems that may occur from any conflicts between driver versions. When ATI refers to "software" they are referring to the drivers as they are considered "software".
