Is This Rig Good for GAMING?

Actually, this was the first HD 4870 review published, one day before the June 25th release.

I still stand by my point, roughly 25% better performance for almost twice the price, I'll keep my 4850 (please be here Monday, please, please...) and overclock it...

A $100 price increase for 25% more performance. You have to remember you're not getting just that though, there is also the more complex PCB, the larger cooler, the higher binned RV770 and the expensive GDDR5.

Better than paying that much to get 10% more performance when going up to the GTX 280.

I did some searching as well...

between the two, which is better... is there a relative difference between the two???

The XMS2's have many different revisions with different modules (I'm so unlucky, I got rev 2.1 with the ProMOS ). If you go with the G.Skill kit I recommended, you're almost sure to get the Powerchips.

The Powerchip modules, they're very good.

Because there are other revisions, but from what I've heard, G.Skill has more recently been using only the Powerchip modules on the 4-4-4-12 kit,

maybe I don't get your point, all these "extras" still only make the 4870 15%-25% better, they still tie into the bottom line, the performance of the card...

a $100 price increase is still almost double the price when talking about a card that only costs $150, $100 is huge to a budget or casual gamer...

those are the memory timings, usually lower is better...
