Hi, I plan on making my own GAMING desktop rig…
After rummaging through the net… I've made a small compilation of hardwares that I think is best for GAMING…

I'm planning to make my desktop from SCRATCH…
Being I'm a noob on this subject, can you tell me if the components listed “FITS” together as a whole.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE… I'm a noob on this subject.
And I'm seeking professional help… hehehe
If there are experienced PC users out there please share your thoughts.

MOTHERBOARD
XFX nForce 680i SLI Socket 775 Motherboard – 129USD

GRAPHICS CARD –GPU-
-ZOTAC GEFORCE GTX 280 AMP – 650 USD
or should i get a nVidia GeForce 9800 gx2 instead???
follow-up question... should i buy ZOTAC, XFX, or EVGA GPU?????????

PROCESSOR -CPU-
-QUAD Q9550 OR 9450 – 530USD TO 316 USD
Q9550 – 2.83GHz 6MBx2 CACHE 1333MHz -530USD
OR
Q9450 – 2.66GHz 6MBx2 CACHE 1333MHz -316USD

HARDISK DRIVE – HDD-
-500 GB 7200 rpm S-ATA2 16 MB CACHE – 100 USD
BTW is there a 10000rpm S-ATA2??? If there is one… is it better than 7200rpm???

MEMORY
??? I don't know what to get… I want a 4gb RAM DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz
But I don't know which brand to get… please recommend a brand for me… >.<

All the prices are estimates that I gathered from different sites.
If my prices are wrong please feel free to correct me… it'll help me A LOT.
Additionally… can you recommend a GOOD PC case??? With a GOOD cooling system
Please share your thoughts if this rig is good for GAMING or not…

OH and which is better??? Vista or XP >.< hehehe

Please spare the harsh comments… I admit, I'm a noob =P

THANKS THANKS THANKS For the people who'll reply and share their thoughts.
Much love^_^

no, you'll experience some serious lag with your underpowered graphics card and cpu, I can give you my address and we can exchange cards and cpus straight up, just as a friendly gesture from me to the board n00b, my Pentium D cpu and 256MB XFX 8500GT will propel you to unknown heights in the gaming and benchmarking world, you will like, and obviously, you will pwn like no other ever has...

just pm me with your address and we can get the ball rolling on the exchange this weekend, that way by this time next week, your pwnification of the computer world as we know it will be complete...

underpowered graphics card??? >.<
i thought GEFORCE GTX 280 is one of the best GPUs out there...
they say that there's two GPUs i should choose from..
the GeForce GTX 280 or the GeForce 9800 gx2

i don't know about Pentium D though... it's the first time i've heard of it

lololololololol

can no one see sarcism when its right infront of their face.

2 Problems with that:

1) Zotac GeForce GTX280 - Swap it for an HD4870 or heck, even 2 and Crossfire them. Or better yet, wait for the HD2870X2. If you must go with a nVidia card, get from EVGA and get the 9800X2, better bang for the buck.
2) Quad-cores aren't for gaming - Get an E3110 and OC that beast.

As far as memory goes Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill are ll good brands. Somebody else can chim in with other trustworthy brands.

I would say go with Vista, you get DX10.

There are a couple 10k RPMs out there, if you can get it, go for it. It will be faster than a 7200RPM, but I don't know how much of it you will notice.

You're also forgetting a DVD/CD drive, PSU, and case.
