Are Vistas worth buying over XP?

I mean... I heard bad and good reviews about Vista all the time and I don't know if I should take my chances in buying one. What do you think?

Yes. Vista is a great OS. I will never willingly go back to XP

You could wait it out a little longer for Windows 7 and skip Vista alltogether.

That could be an extremely long wait..and I'd hope with the release of Windows 7, an upgrade package will be offered (like previous releases)

I'd say if you already have XP installed, go ahead and upgrade, the Windows 7 looks like a similar interface with some Longhorn installments..so you can get a feel for it..

The scuttlebutt on Windows 7 is that it may be released late 2009, early 2010.

Do you guys have any good reasons why vista is better than XP? 'Cause I heard some bad performance and compatability issues...

It's only slow if your system is too old, and incompatible with older hardware and software. If what you have is three years old or newer (software or accessory like printer wise) then you'll be fine.

It just makes things a lot easier IMO. A lot of tasks are automated like defrag, windows update actually finds drivers for you and things just work together nicer
