New ATI Driver 8.7

Just downloaded it from here:

And I and just going to restart and benchmark to see the difference.

This is good news for those who don't want to buy a 48xx series card because of instability issues.

If anyone else has already tested it out, is it any better?

You did uninstall the 8.6 drivers, right?

Well, how is this for confused. Windows states im running 8.512.0.0 while the CCC says I am running Catalyst Driver 8.7. BUT it also says my Driver Packaging Version is 8.512-080703a-066913C-ATI which was mentioned in the Windows Device manager.

I thought it deleted the previous Driver when you install it anyway.

Follow this procedure: Uninstall the ATI drivers through add/remove programs in the control panel -> Reboot in safe mode -> Run Driver Sweeper (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655) -> reboot and install the 8.7 drivers.

You must ALWAYS uninstall the previous drivers before installing new ones.

do you really have to uninstall the old ATI drivers before installing the new one?
i never do when i had an ATI card, and a new driver comes out, i just install over it.

Some people can get away with it, but dealing with drivers is a sensitive issue and if u are a hardcore gamer u want to have the best performance possible. If u don't remove the old drivers first, some files might still be there in mix with the new once and sometimes it can cause a conflict.

Weird graphical glitches, constant crashing and freezing. The most common cause is driver conflicts.
