HELP! Real Trouble

Basically, just hope they don't notice. Fessing up probably won't be worth it, you're better off just pretending it didn't happen. If accused, you can always say you left your computer open and your friend/relative started browsing.

Then he would have to explain why he left a machine without logging out and also why he had friends/relatives at his work station???????

I'm in favour of not saying anything until approached, with a bit of luck the Sysadmin/IT dept won't even notice.

Ah, I just assumed it was a laptop...most business people have the ability to work from home when needed these days.

Just say he asked to check the weather or something harmless.

Then I understand that ghosts remain on the monitor's screen. If that is correct, I will need to find a monitor that is not being used and swap them.
I suppose he could have a seperate monitor connected to a laptop but I would doubt it from his post

Like a Dumb SHI* I am I started working for a government agency and against policy I went out to various web sites. I need to erase any evidence of going to those sites.

When you're at work, you're using company resources. It's up to you to respect their usage agreement.

lol just like at college but yet everyone goes on the internet to view their mails and what not.

How many staff work their? if theirs lots I don't think you should be to worried just don't do it alot.

dude unless you were sharing government information over a stupid website then nothing will happen.

yes there are rules for a reason but c'mon its the government, my old company had use to internet but only selected sites so if they have the technology to do it im sure the government can,

what im getting @ is if they really really really didnt want you too they could have stopped you too.
and the chances are whateva you did if it was just general surfing of internet pages nothing will come back on you.

yes they have the ability to track exactly where you have been but they need a reason to start investigating where you have been they wont randomly check

Acquire something like Acronis True Image. There is a facility to clear your hard drive bit-for-bit. This is much better than a format.
