the 8800GTS price has dropped once again...

So you say it "depends" with the 4850 to the 8800. What about the 4870? or the 70x? And what are yalls sources? $125 for the 50? hmm... lol. what;s teh 70 at?

no, $125 for the 8800GTS, not the 4850, if the 4850 was $125 this discussion wouldn't even be taking place, the 4870 and 4870X2 beat each of the previously mentioned cards quite handily, but are also more expensive...

the sources pretty much are benchmarks, most benchmarks I have seen on average lead me to these conclusions, give or take a few % pts (these benches are based on the 512MB 8800GTS [G92] and not the 640MB 8800GTS [G80])...

4850 (10%)> 8800GTX (4%)> 8800GTS 512 MB (6%)> 8800GT (10%)> 3870 (14%)> 3850...

the percentages pretty much show how much better the performance is and can usually be translated into fps in games, the 4850 will usually give you 14% more fps than the 8800GTS on average, so IMO from what I have seen in most benchmarks, the 4850 is about 30% more expensive, but only delivers a 15% increase in performance over the 8800GTS at their current prices...

when I say it depends, I mean it depends on which games you play, at what resolutions, and the AA and AF settings, some cards perform better at lower resloutions, while some cards kick in at higher resolutions...
