Car Thread!

I think you could use goo gone to get the pinstripe off... I think it's clearcoat safe but you will want to wipe it off asap and then give it a wash afterwards. Don't take my word for it though, read the instructions.

And you have VCT? Crap. I need to swap an escort motor. What are the numbers on one of those?

no you don't, the zx2 has VCT on the exhaust side which is very different from the SVT Focus with it on the Intake Cam. Ours is purely an emissions piece of the motor where the focus is used to increase performance. The people that are serious about performance with the zx2 generally remove the vct system or swap to a non-VCT focus head. You'd be better off dropping in an SVT motor. The zx2 vct is basically a replacement for the EGR valve they didn't put in our cars.

ok guys got a renault clio mk2 on an s plate, went to top up the power steering fluid as its coming a bit stiff put like just over a cap full in and the fluid just sat in the screw cappy bit lol.

seems werid but if i look at the tank i can see its absolutely empty, but as i say there is fluid just sittin in the first inch of the tank where the cap screws onto and its not going down .... n e ideas

Hah interesting. I've never heard of VCT being used for emissions control. That sucks. And FYI the SVT system is a little complicated too since it has the dual runner intake and the VCT gear... most people who run high numbers or boost end up deleting it all anyway. lol
I have no intentions to swap, really... until my Zetec blows up. If I have the time and money I might try to get my hands on a Duratec and MTX-75. Otherwise I'll just track down another old beat up Zetec, since they are pretty much everywhere.

ssc I have no idea what you're talking about. english? :D

Why a CRX? Every time I see one of those I just can't take them seriously...

At least find a EK or something.

Either way, you're coming down to California when you're done with the car so I can ride in it. :)
