okay ive been thinking about taking the HDD out of this (current desktop pc) pos Dell and building a much faster budget build and put my HDD inside
my HDD uses an IDE cable
so i was thinking about using this parts list:

i think
and i will be putting my HDD from my Desktop Dell inside (IDE cable)
and ill throw in some more space, like this:

so since i would basicly be building a pc from scratch
what would have to happen to keep my Windows XP on my HDD and get everything up and running again?


Reasons:
here are my reasons why i would consider doing this
im tired of this pos dell
there is no room to upgrade
and i am ablsolutely sick and tired of seeing the Dell logo
on a failing and very limited system

forget a pentium d and get an E2160 and overclock it to 3.2Ghz - itll mop the floor with the PD you for some reason want to get (you realize the PD is old s**t from like 06... right? itll bottleneck everything ).

i know that game is old, but this benchmark still says SOMETHING about the E2160's overclocking value.

but from the CPU benchmarks (And from other benchmarks you may find on the web with that system playing games like Crysis and COD4), you'll see it always matches even sometimes beats the E6750!! (which is like $200+!! the E6750 is like.. POWER USER HIGH END level, you realize that?) plus its probably worth more then your entire dell system put together.

Follow this tutorial and you should be good to go: Swapping your board without so much as a reinstall

I've used this method a few times without a hitch.

stop the gravy train!
its not supposed to be a game machine
its just supposed to be a budget upgrade from my 04 Dell desktop
and to keep that Hdd with all of my files on it also
this thing is supposed to stay cheap!
its going to do nothing but be a printer server
and a file storage
maybe even be graduated up to a wireless network monitoring station
dunno just yet
but i can tell you one thing right now
that 3.4 GHz PD
will beat the snot out of the 2.8 Ghz P4 on a 475 socket
that and im tired of seeing the Dell disk on the front when it sucks so much
it is having a hard time surfing the web
