Help me with my Ram installation.

It should work even though the 1GB Kingston module is slower. It will just downclock the Geil to PC2700 speed.

Try the setup I suggested to see if it helps.



Hold the boat. It's showing all three sticks in the screenshots you posted. . . Where is it saying it only recognizes 1.5GB?

What OS are you using?
 
i tried that method and only 1 gig showed up. i either get 1.5 or 1 gig with different combination's.

im on xp sp2

For some reason your motherboard is treating the 1GB stick as a 512MB stick and that's why it's only showing as 1.5GB instead of 2GB. That's my theory.

I'll have a search and see what I can find....
 
There's a problem like this listed elsewhere and they mention 'chipset limitations' and the 'density of memory modules'.
They suggest using two 1GB modules to get 2GB instead of mixing sizes.
But i'm trying to find out why this is happening. But as stated above it could be just the way the chip set accesses memory modules of different sizes.
