wow, hi-res pics of 9800GX2 in SLI...

Screw the 9800, look at the new GTX 280:

LMAO. The GX2 is, for the most part, faster than the 280. And the 4870 X2 is still the prettiest :p

so why dont they take the processor from the GTX 280 and slap 2 of them in a 9800 GX2?
then make it so that 3 of them could work together in a triple SLI
now that would be a set up

Because Nvidia c0cked up really bad. GT 200 is a massive 576mm2, and has huge power requirements and heat outputs. A dual GPU card is not possible on their current 65nm process, and probably still won't be on the 55nm half node. That is why Nvidia will lose the performance crown to ATI when the X2 comes out sometime in late July/early August. The HD 4870 is already 85%-90% as fast as a GTX 280, therefore the X2 will inevitably be faster.
When GT 200 gets to 45nm, that's when we'll really see it shine, but until then...

they say that you learn something everyday
well my class just ended
cool i cant wait until the HD 4870 X2 comes out

i love to think of the crazy things that will be possible eventually

even if you could get all of that graphic horsepower
it would still be bottlenecked by the CPU for a really
really
really long time
