Networking Game Question...

What do you need to network or hook up 2 computers 2gather to play the same game ex: Age of Empires.....A ethernet cord? and the IP Address?

just an ethernet cord
connect em play via lan
for more then 2 you will need a router tho

What is it called when you type in whoever is hosting the games IP Address to enter?

I know how to find a computers IP address...I was just wondering what it was called...Like if my friend was hosting a game online...I could jump into the pre game lobby with his IP Address

it depends on the game dude. for instance in CoD4 u have to open the Command box my pressing the ~ button. then just type "/connect 111.111.1.1"
