Oh because I didn't want to void my warranty then, and also I got the modding bug today and wanted to do something:D
 
For the most part it won't hurt anything. The main thing to worry about when overclocking is heat and modern processors all have circuitry built in to shut down the computer if it exceeds a certain temperature. But there is always a chance of something being damaged.
 
I don't even know how you do it, where do you go to do it. I just know what it does. Plus, I won't be getting a new CPU for a while.
 
Intel does not void your warranty if you OC your cpu. But if you switch out the heatsink or mod the setup in anyway, then your warranty is expired. I don't know about AMD though.

Ah! They're tricky. Unless you OC with their set-up you don't get a warranty. And they know no one OC's with stock hsf
