Im a 15 year old kid who is looking to replace his out of date desktop with a modern laptop. My issue is that im looking for speed and performance at a low price. I dont know what to look for in a processor, my current processor runs at 2.39 ghz, but it is a celeron d processor. I have used other computers that run at a faster speed and have a lower processor speed even though they are not overclocked. I know that the amount of RAM a computer has effects on the speed of the computer, but what i would like to know is, what brands/models/types of processor are good for speed and performance?

I would suggest a core 2 duo with at least 3 gigs of ram and a 7200 rpm hard drive. I bought a laptop recently and have noticed a lot of them come with slower hard drives compared to PCs. This can slow your computer down significantly, no matter how fast your processor is. Also try and get one with a separate video card vs one built in to the MB. That's just my two cents!
