Another budget build thread....

Ok, my friend texted me last night asking if I would build him a computer. I asked what his budget was and he said ~$1000. He used to be a mac user, then he got an HP notebook, but he shares it with his brother (and it melts his leg). He needs EVERYTHING. So all components, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers/headset (I'm assuming). I don't know if I should go AMD or Intel, I have no experience putting together Intel based machines (is it even any different?). He wants it for gaming, but nothing too extreme, so at least an 8800GT.

Look's fairly good. I'd go for an Intel E6550...it costs about $40 more...E8400 if you can afford it. (Not sure about AMD, wait for others to respond)

As far as the 8800GT, I'd definitely go with the Radeon 4850 if you can afford it. ($200).

Go for a P35 mobo (if you're going ATI)...should be cheaper.

Maybe that one?

Also, a 700W power supply is ridiculous. 550W should easily be enough.

Just some suggestions...
