Yeah I just noticed that between 2001 and 2003 the Processing power doubled and we had reason to upgrade so soon(1.5Ghz to 3Ghz by 2003) but afterwards it got hardly anywhere(2003-2005 was 3Ghz-3.8Ghz) yet we still were in that same mindset of upgrading. Afterwards we got dual core and quad core but we still maybe max out at 4Ghz (although it is much faster than comparable processor before) but we still pay so much to gain that extra 200Mhz.

On a side note GPU's just skyrocketed in performance during the same periods. You can buy a new GPU 2 times a year and still see huge increases in performance.

Yeah, but a 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo is faster than a 3.6 GHz Pentium 4.

Yeah well your comparing CPU's almost 3 years apart. The processing power of a 1.5Ghz Pentium 4 compared to a 3Ghz Pentium 4 is a huge leap where as of right now the difference between say a Q6600(a little over 1 year old CPU) and a Q9550(right now) or Q9650(coming in Q3) is not that big especially if you max overclock each of them. Like right now with my Q6600 stable 24/7 at 3.6Ghz I would not upgrade for maybe another year just to get a decent performance gain but right now I can upgrade my 8800GTS 512MB and get a large performance gain.

450FSB isn't usually a problem for a decent Intel chipset, the Nvidia boards might not handle a quad at that FSB, but I do agree, the Q9450 needs to come down in price for people to start buying it over the Q6600 or Q6700 (x10).

I can hit 475 FSB with my P5K and the Q6600. 500 comes easy with the E8400
