Linking two computers together

I would like to link two old computers that I have lying around together. Not to share files, but to share resources (CPU, RAM, Ect.). I know it can be done but I dont know how. I did a search on google & the forums but had no luck. I was wondering if anybody had any good tips or links. Thanks

I've never heard of that. The only thing I've heard of is sharing monitors and sharing a CPU with 2 monitors.

It's called clustering and its possible to do with computers, as this is what supercomputers are (A bunch of high peformance computers linked together other the network).

You need a specialized OS and specialized applications to take advantage of clustering however.

Yes you can. But the software if for servers only right now

I know it can be done, but I never knew how to do it. I've seen like 10 systems linked together as a student project at a college. That was pretty cool. I'd like to know how to do it too, just to try.

k, so clustering sounds like something that would not be all that practical to do unless I had a reason like rendering large videos or very processor extensive tasks.
